They wear agnès b., they talk about it.
Rémi, photographer and director, Rue Bonaparte.
What do you wear today?
A well-cut agnès b. jacket, comfortable, understated but finely made. I was wearing a light blue poplin shirt, also from agnès b., a basic T-shirt, the kind I put on every morning, straight-cut jeans, slightly loose, and a pair of dark sneakers, comfortable, discreet, and ones I really like. And of course, my bag, which never leaves my side when I’m on my bike.
How did you put this outfit together?
I like the idea of a kind of uniform, or at least a sense of consistency. I’m not really one for bold clothing choices. I once read that Obama said he only had two outfits prepared for him in the morning, which made life simpler. And, all things considered (laughs), I’m a bit the same. In the morning, I try to make the choice easy: always a basic T-shirt. The shirt adds a touch of structure. I like how sober this jacket is, the black color, but also the subtle details you notice up close. It’s not flashy, yet it’s well made and elegant, that’s what I think makes a good piece of clothing. Being a bit obsessive about clothes actually comforts me.
What does agnès b. evoke for you?
The first thing that comes to mind is her, her link with the art scene, which has always fascinated me. I picture this woman who would host someone at her apartment, produce their exhibition, help them make a film, support graffiti artists. I don’t think there’s anyone quite like her in French fashion. As for the clothes themselves, I don’t have many pieces, but I know they’re reliable, things I can build around. My mother always liked the brand and wore it often. What she bought has stood the test of time without ever feeling outdated. That reassuring quality probably comes from there too.
