Lilia and Hugo
They wear agnès b., they talk about it.
Lilia and Hugo, painters and artists, Place des Vosges, Paris.
What are you wearing today?
Lilia - A full black zip-up agnès b. jumpsuit, with a slightly mechanic feel. Underneath, a firefighter-red wool sweater, quite wide, with a zipped collar. A red rope bag found in a thrift store, and patent square-toe boots.
Hugo - Fairly thick pearl-grey trousers, a brown leather jacket with violet undertones. Also a black silk scarf with a gecko print by Agnès b. around my neck.
How did you put this look together?
L - I like wearing clothes that allow for a lot of freedom of movement, pieces I can slip on both in the studio to paint and to catch the metro. The jumpsuit is the ultimate garment in which I feel free. It immediately caught my eye; I pictured myself in it like a beautiful crow. As for the sweater, I have a bit of an obsession with red. What I enjoy with clothes is reversing the “usual” order of layers and playing with layering. Here, the jumpsuit is worn over the sweater, revealing only the collar and its zip, which overlaps with that of the jumpsuit, almost like an ornament.
H - I like the roomy feel of the outfit, with very little pleating. A kind of armor, but a comfortable one.
What is your relationship with agnès b.?
H - I think of its founder, her artistic commitment and her support. Her legendary relationship with artists, like Harmony Korine, for example.
L - My aunt, a great agnès b. enthusiast, often took me with her to the boutiques. I loved those moments: commenting on her outfits, scanning the scarves stored in glass jars. For my 18th birthday, she gave me the same jumpsuit I’m wearing today, but in denim, a piece I wore endlessly, again and again, until it was worn out.
