Agnès b. and music

Music has never been far from agnès b.'s universe. She explains where this love comes from and where it has taken her.

"My parents were both great music lovers. I remember them putting on their formal attire to go and see Callas sing. My father was a lawyer in Versailles, but at the same time he sang in the choir of the Paris Opera at the Palais de Chaillot. When I was 9 years old, he hid me in the choir so that I could see the conductor from the front while they rehearsed Beethoven's 9th symphony. That marked me for life. At home, they listened to South-American music, Django Reinhart, jazz. Later on, I would go with the musician Vincent Segal to the Duc des Lombards or to the Ile Saint Louis to listen to jazz. From morning to night and even at night, music was always playing in my house. I listened to Bob Marley, the Stones, Bowie, Brian Ferry, Roxy Music. I also liked Alan Vega a lot, I saw him regularly on stage.

The best gift I can receive, to this day, is music. I have a sound system in my house that covers the whole house, including the kitchen. I love listening to music while I cook. We started a radio three years ago. I ask all my musician friends for playlists and every week there is a new one. Music is a very important part of my life."
