The snap cardigan

It is one of the most iconic pieces designed by agnès b. The snap cardigan is over 40 years old, but it’s ageless. Agnès walks us through its story.

"I got the idea for the snap cardigan because of a grey sweatshirt. Or thanks to it. I loved it but I hated taking it off, with my long hair, it was tough. Some journalists wrote that I cut it off with scissors... No, I just made the snap cardigan from the same jersey. The snaps make it easy to open in one go. Snap! I wanted it to have lots of tight buttons, like on the uniform worn by the royal officers at the Château de Versailles, that you see on the engravings. The snap cardigan came out in 1979, and it worked immediately."
