Shetland wool is a material with exceptional qualities. Although more rustic than merino, alpaca, cashmere, and mohair, it is said to have the sheen of silk, the strength of cotton, the whiteness of linen, and, of course, the warmth of wool.
Remarkably soft to the touch, especially after washing, Shetland wool has a crimped and interlocked fiber structure that traps air, providing excellent thermal insulation. Despite its warmth, it is surprisingly light and very comfortable to wear. Its fibers are also strong and durable, ensuring the longevity of items originally designed for the harsh climatic conditions of the islands and fishermen.
