© Jeannette Leroy for ELLE

Agnès started out as a stylist for ELLE, and sometimes even as a model, with her family.

Taken in 1964, this photo tells us many things. The link between Agnès and ELLE, where she started out as a stylist, a job she'd never done before. The complicity with her twins, too. Agnès looks back on this period and this photograph in the last issue of ELLE (10/05/23).

"I was working for ELLE as a stylist and had been asked if Jeannette Leroy would take my photo for a lingerie series. It was fashion director Annie Rivemale who spotted me at a dinner party: I was wearing cowboy boots and an underskirt I'd found at a flea market. Back then, nobody dressed like that! I was 22 or 23 and penniless, living on the 5th floor without an elevator with my twins, Etienne and Nicolas, the sons of Christian Bourgois. I had prepared some cheap looks, with clothes from Prisunic, which I drew flat and watercolored on Canson paper: twenty little playing-card-sized drawings - I always do this, by the way, to explain what I want at the studio. She thought it was pretty and hired me. I was immediately amused. That's how I got started."
