saving energy

Reduce, Measure, Act

Since 2020, we have been rigorously measuring electricity and gas consumption across all our sites (headquarters, warehouse, stores). This monitoring allows us to adapt our practices and implement concrete solutions to reduce our energy consumption.

To achieve this, we have identified several levers for action:

  1. the choice of green energy in 2022 and 2023, and again from 2025 onwards for 100% of our buildings and stores in France, and since 2022 in our shops in London
  2. more energy-efficient equipment, such as LEDs at our various sites
  3. roof insulation in our head offices in Paris
  4. optimizing lighting schedules in our stores, with storefront lights automatically turning off at night.
  5. the installation of a Building Management System (BMS) to ensure even more accurate monitoring within the head office in Paris

Our energy efficiency measures are paying off: we reduced our overall electricity consumption by 4% in 2024.

Some stores have done even better, such as Paris (-15%), Montpellier (-12%) and Nice (-10%). In London, our Covent Garden store saw a 16% decrease in electricity consumption.

We have already achieved the legal targets for 2030 and 2040, but we are continuing our efforts to reduce our impact every year.

target:

A 3% reduction in energy consumption across all our sites, every year.

Low-carbon deliveries

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, starting with our deliveries. All deliveries in the Paris region are made by electric vans. In Paris, transfers are made by cargo bike by our own courier. We collect the products from our Parisian manufacturers ourselves with our electric van.

agnès b.'s Carbon Footprint - Global 2023

To take action, we must measure. In 2024, we voluntarily carried out the Carbon Footprint Assessment for the House (for the year 2023).

Thanks to our long-standing practices of moderation (small production quantities, few short-lived projects, minimal shop renovations), we are already starting from a low-impact model.

The largest part of our carbon footprint comes from the production of our garments.

As we do not have our own factory, we work closely with our suppliers to collectively reduce our carbon footprint.

target:

Reduce our direct and indirect emissions by 20% by 2030.

Our action plan includes:

  1. continuing our work with certified materials and continuing to select natural materials with a lower environmental impact, such as linen, hemp, or yak. To learn more, visit our page: natural materials
  2. supporting our suppliers in adopting more energy-efficient processes, particularly in dyeing, spinning, and tanning
  3. encouraging the use of green energy in the corners and retail spaces of department stores where we are located
  4. encouraging our customers to care for each garment so it stays as beautiful as on the first day
  5. prioritizing shipping by boat over air travel for the transport of our products
